Registered Nurse (Nurse Educator/Clinical Nurse Leader), High Intensive Psychiatric Unit (HIPU)

The CNL/NEd functions within the microsystem and assumes accountability for healthcare outcomes for a specific group of clients through the assimilation and application of research-based information, to design, implement, and evaluate client plans of care. The CNL/NEd is a provider and a manager of care at the points of care to individuals and cohorts. The CNL/NEd designs, implements, and evaluates client care by coordinating and supervising the care provided by the interdisciplinary healthcare team. The CNL/NEd executes responsibilities that demonstrates leadership, experience, and creative approaches to management of complex patient care. The CNL/NEd has continuing responsibility for all the following functions, but not limited to:
Documents outcomes at the program or service level. Oversees/participates in program(s) as a substantiated coordinated group of activities impacting Veterans and/or employees. Leads, trains, and organizes delivery of care to assure continuity of care and peer accountability for practice, including access to care and discharge planning. Utilizes advanced clinical knowledge/judgement to promote staff involvement in planning, decision-making, and evaluation outcomes. Functions as an expert in clinical practices and/or areas related to the assigned roles and responsibilities. Systematically evaluates current practice and formulates outcomes for groups of Veterans and/or organizational process with an area of expertise. Guides, develops, and supports staff from a leadership perspective. Utilize professional standards of care, scientific evidence, and practice to evaluate program and/or service activities. Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate State-accrediting agency and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed by the applicant:
The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement of graduation from an approved school of professional nursing. OR The completion of coursework equivalent to a nursing degree in a MSN Bridge Program that qualifies for professional nursing registration constitutes the completion of an approved course of study of professional nursing. Students should submit the certificate of professional nursing to sit for the NCLEX to the VA along with a copy of the MSN transcript. (Reference VA Handbook 5005, Appendix G6) OR In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of a current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement for graduation from an approved school of professional nursing Current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a State, Territory or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico) of the United States, or the District of Columbia. Grade Determinations:
The following criteria must be met in determining the grade assignment of candidates, and if appropriate, the level within a grade:
Nurse II - A BSN with approximately 2-3 years of nursing practice/experience; OR ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a Bachelor's degree in a related field and approximately 2-3 year's of nursing practice/experience; OR a Master's degree in nursing or related field with a BSN and approximately 1-2 year's of nursing practice/experience; OR a Doctoral degree in nursing or meets basic requirements for appointment and has doctoral degree in a related field with no additional nursing practice/experience required. Nurse III - Master's degree in nursing or related field with BSN and approximately 2-3 year's of nursing practice/experience; OR a Doctoral degree. Preferred Education:

Clinical Care Facilitator/Clinical Nurse Leader(CCF/CNL):
The CCF/CNL will have a minimum of a bachelor's degree and be enrolled in a master's program with a nursing/clinical nurse leader major and board certification as a CCF/CNL from a VA approved certifying body required. Functions as a generalist at the point of care and manages and coordinates care of individuals and clinical groups. Responsible and accountable for the coordinator of care focused on patient transition through the continuum of care, patient and family education, Veteran self-management after discharge, and supporting factors that impact customer satisfaction. Applies the nursing process and care management principles within a collaborative, interdisciplinary practice setting which will then enable effective attainment of appropriate lengths of stay and the effective level of care. Core functions include daily assessment of patient care needs to determine the most appropriate use of expertise in clinical coordination, patient and staff education, attention to systems issues that require intervention, and quality and performance measures. Assists the nursing staff in the provision of complex patient care. Consultant:
Nurse Educator:
Will have a minimum of a master's degree in nursing or in a related field. Board certification from a VA approved certifying body preferred. The Educator is responsible and accountable for the development and delivery of Patient Care Service staff development and education programs. The Educator is primarily responsible for the orientation of new employees, evaluation of their progress in the orientation process, and for developing and implementing a learning plan for improving identified deficiencies. The population served includes nursing staff and support staff primarily in HIPU. The Educator will work collaboratively with Mental Health service line leadership and all services within the medical center and its affiliating CBOCs in the development and implementation of Patient Care Service and facility-wide educational programs and initiatives. The incumbent will actively participate in workshops! continuing education programs designed for career advancement as well as function in classroom teaching environments, clinical arenas, and as a group facilitator during training and implementation of changes in nursing related computer applications. This position requires visual acuity, keen hearing, clear distinctive speech, and manual dexterity. This position requires potential periods of continued walking, standing, sitting, and lifting. The incumbent must be a mature, flexible, sensible individual capable of working effectively in stressful situations and able to shift priorities based on needs. Must complete annual Employee Health requirements, such as annual TB screening or testing, as a condition of employment. The incumbent may occasionally be exposed to patients who are combative secondary, but limited to psychiatric or delirium disorders.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
