Responsibilities are complex in scope, involving full management of two specialty programs with nationally mandated services and supervision of a diverse professional staff. The program coordinator plays an integral member of the multidisciplinary teams providing supervision to mental health staff and ensuring the quality of services to patients in SATP teams. The Social Worker Program Coordinator practices in this area under the Mental Health Service Line. Patients are adult males and females of whom veterans are of US Armed Forces. Duties but not limited to; Plans, organizes and directs administrative, operational, patient and personnel activities for the mentioned program. Responsible for ensuring each program meets VHAs Uniformed Mental Health Services Handbook requirements, VA/DoD Clinical Practice Guidelines for PTSD and for Substance Use Disorders (SUD,) VHA Case Management Directive, Joint Commission accreditation standards, and CARF accreditation standards. Thus, develops and implements policies, procedures, and programs to enhance the Veterans Mental Health treatment experience. Primary champion for the SAIL metrics related to SUD areas of focus. Develops and implements information and workload systems to evaluate the quality of services provided and track productivity. Participates in and fully aware of Measurement Based Care (MBC) initiatives to increase motivation and overall improvement in growth and mental health symptoms reduction within the SATP programs. Develops the clinics to serve as a resource of expertise for the facility, including CBOCs, and are the key points of contact for Veteran Centers, OEF/OIF/OND programs, others. Collaborates with and assists others within or across work groups to validate and/or improve practice, either based on application of current research-based knowledge or conducting research. Ensures a full range of diagnostic and evaluation services, especially in the areas of SUD evaluation and suicide assessment. Ensure there's a full range of psychological interventions consistent with training and expertise, with special emphasis on evidenced-based treatments. Develops, implements, and documents the psychotherapeutic treatment plan for an assigned caseload of patients, including prompt completion of clinical reminders. Provides clinical supervision to discipline specific personnel and instruction for all team members as it pertains to daily operations of the programs. - Ensure programs are in adherence to administrative duties including:
Scheduling of Veterans and related issues, returning Veterans phone calls and secure messages, writing reports, attending organizational meetings. Complies with national and local performance measures, including timely health care screening and completion of clinical reminders for all patients. Ensure compliance with all CPRS documentation procedures, including timeliness standards for documentation and proper patient check out procedures (e.g., entering diagnostic and procedure codes). The incumbent will fulfill ethical responsibilities to Veterans, staff, colleagues and VA in accordance with NASW Code of Ethics, VHA Code of Ethics, and local Ethics policies, which includes but is not limited to compliance with all laws and regulations related to confidentiality and release of information, and protecting Veterans' personal identifying information. The program coordinator will collaborate in the formulation and facilitation of performance standards to staff who directly reports to he/she, performance improvement processes and ensure compliance with performance measures as required by the VA for their specific population and/or program. The program coordinator provides analysis and evaluation of clinical program data and computerized programs to identify system-wide trends and needs to enhance the quality of service. Serves on Medical Center or Healthcare System, VISN, and/or National VA committees or task forces, as endorsed by supervisors. The program coordinator is administratively responsible for the clinical programming and prepares reports and statistics for facility, VISN, and national use. The incumbent provides leadership, direction, orientation, coaching, in-service training, staff development, and continuing education programs for assigned staff. The incumbent initiates and conducts a variety of program or service audits and complete designated clinical practice audits and reports, including productivity assessments. Participates in social work privileging, educational and peer review activities, in accord with medical center policies. Attends and participates in administrative and informational meetings held by the Chief of Mental Health Service Line, Social Work Service Chief, Chief of Staff, and facility Director. Work Schedule:

Have a master's degree in social work from a school of social work fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). Graduates of schools of social work that are in candidacy status do not meet this requirement until the School of Social Work is fully accredited. Experience must demonstrate possession of advanced practice skills and judgment, demonstrating progressively more professional competency. Candidate may have certification or other post-master's degree training from a nationally recognized professional organization or university that includes a defined curriculum/course of study and internship, or equivalent supervised professional experience. (a) Knowledge of program coordination and administration which includes consultation, negotiation, and monitoring. For all assignments above the full performance level, the higher-level duties must consist of significant scope, complexity (difficulty), and variety and be performed by the incumbent at least 25% of the time. Program coordinators at the GS-12 grade level are administratively responsible for a clinical program providing treatment to Veterans in a major specialty area, such as but not limited to:
Spinal Cord Injury, Homeless Continuum Veteran Program, Hospice and Palliative Care Program, Suicide Prevention Program, Veterans Justice Outreach, Caregiver Support Program and Community Nursing Home Program. The program coordinator may be the sole practitioner in this specialty at the facility and typically provide direct patient care services in the program area. The program coordinator oversees the daily operation of the program, develop policies and procedures for program operation, and prepare reports and statistics for facility, VISN, and national use. They may be responsible for the program's budget, developing and monitoring staff compliance with practice, standards and guidelines on documentation, workload, data entry, ethical practice and service delivery. The program coordinator provides analysis and evaluation of clinical program data and computerized programs to identify system-wide trends and needs to enhance the quality of service. They may be responsible for, or contribute to, the program's resource and fiscal management, monitoring control points developing the annual budget, operating within that budget, and accounting for appropriated funds. The program coordinator is administratively responsible for the clinical programming and prepares reports and statistics for facility, VISN, and national use. They provide leadership, direction, orientation, coaching, in-service training, staff development, and continuing education programs for assigned staff.
